What we Believe

Beliefs

We are Evangelical – We believe that the Bible is the infallible Word of God and base all our ministries upon it. We share the Good news of Jesus here in West Sacramento and support missionaries who share this news around the world.

We are Pentecostal – We believe that the ministry and gifts of the Holy Spirit are for us today! This word comes from Acts 2 when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the early church at the feast of Pentecost and they began speaking in other tongues.

We Believe…

The Scriptures are Inspired by God and Declare His Design and Plan for Mankind

The Bible is our rule of faith and conduct; the inspired Word of God. The Scriptures, both Old and New Testament, are the verbally inspired, infallible, authoritative revelation of God to man.
(2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21)

There is only ONE Living and True God

The one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent “I Am”, the Creator of the heaven and the earth and the redeemer of mankind. God exists eternally as the Trinity, in three persons, yet one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-11; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22)

The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that Jesus Christ was both human and divine. We believe Jesus was born of a virgin, Mary, and lived a sinless life. We believe He was crucified for the sins of all mankind, rose from the dead and ascended to heaven.
(Matthew 1:23; Hebrews 7:26; 1 Corinthians 15:3; Matthew 28:6; Acts 1:9-11, 2:33)

Man Willingly Fell to Sin

God created man as good and upright but when Adam and Eve fell from their original righteousness and communion with God, they became dead in their sin. From this original sin, our natures became sinful. Because of the sinfulness of man, man is inclined to serve his own will instead of God’s.
(Genesis 1:26-27, 2:17, 3:6; Romans 5:12-19)

Every Person Can Have Restored Fellowship with God Through Salvation

The only hope for man is redemption through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ. The inward evidence of salvation is the direct witness of the Spirit (Romans 8:16). The outward evidence to all men is righteousness and true holiness.
(Ephesians 4:24; Titus 2:12; Luke 24:47; Romans 10:13-15; John 3:16)

And Practice Water Baptism by Immersion

The ordinance of baptism by immersion is commanded in the Scriptures. All who repent and believe on Christ as Savior and Lord are to be baptized.
(Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 10:47-48; Romans 6:4)

And Practice Holy Communion (The Lord’s Supper)

Holy Communion, consisting of the elements of bread and the fruit of the vine, is the symbol expressing our sharing the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:4) and a memorial of His suffering and death (1 Corinthians 11:26) and is available to all believers.

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a Special Experience Following Salvation

This baptism empowers believers for witnessing and effective service, just as it did in New Testament times. All believers are entitled to, should ardently expect, and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism in the Holy Ghost and fire, according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. With it comes the enduement of power of life and service, the bestowment of the gifts and their uses in the work of the ministry.
(Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4-8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31)

The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is ‘Speaking in Tongues as the Spirit of God Gives Utterance’

This was first experienced on the Day of Pentecost and referenced throughout Acts and the Epistles.
(Acts 2:4; 1 Cor 12:4-10, 28)

Sanctification Initially Occurs at Salvation

Sanctification is an act of separation from that which is evil, and of dedication unto God (Romans 12:1-2; 1 Thessalonians 5:22; Hebrews 13:12). The Scriptures teach a life of holiness (Hebrews 12:14). By the power of the Holy Spirit, we are able to obey the command, “Be ye holy, for I am holy”
(1 Peter 1:15-16)

The Church has a Mission to Seek and Save All Who are Lost

The Church is the body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of her great commission. Each believer, born of the Spirit, is an integral part of the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven.
(Ephesians 1:22-23, 2:22; Hebrews 12:23)

A Divinely Called and Scripturally Ordained Leadership Ministry Serves the Church

This ministry has been provided by our Lord for a twofold purpose: the evangelization of the world and the edifying of the body of Christ. The Bible teaches that each of us under leadership must commit ourselves to reach others for Christ, to worship Him with other believers, and to build up, or edify, the body of believers – the Church.
(Mark 16:15-20; Ephesians 4:11-13)

Divine Healing of the Sick is a Privilege for Christians Today

Divine healing is an integral part of the Gospel. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement (His sacrificial death on the cross for our sins).
(Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:16-17; James 5:14-16)

In the Blessed Hope – When Jesus Christ Raptures His Church Prior to His Return to Earth (the second coming)

At this future moment in time, all believers who have died will rise from their graves and will meet the Lord in the air, and Christians who are alive will be caught up with them, to be with the Lord forever.
(1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Romans 8:23; Titus 2:13; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52)

In the Millennial Reign of Christ

This millennial reign (when Jesus returns with His saints at His second coming and begins His benevolent rule over Earth for 1,000 years), will bring the salvation of national Israel and the establishment of universal peace.
(Zechariah 14:5; Matthew 24:27-30; Revelation 1:7, 19:11-14, 20:1-6)

There will be a Final Judgement

There will be a final judgment in which those who have rejected Christ. The wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their works. Whosoever is not found in the Book of Life, together with the devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophet will be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
(Matthew 25:46; Mark 9:43-48; Revelation 19:20, 20:11-15, 21:8)

And Look Forward To the Perfect New Heaven and New Earth

Christ is preparing this new Heaven and earth for all people of all time, who have accepted Him. Heaven and earth have awaited their redemption and will be restored in harmony and order, where righteousness will dwell. We will live and dwell with Him there forever, following His millennial reign on Earth. ‘And so shall we forever be with the Lord’.
(2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21, 22)
