Pastors Coco & Lynn Perez

Growing up in the 1960s, deeply immersed in the era’s counterculture and influenced by both drugs and the hippie movement, his dream was singular—to become a professional rock drummer. However, everything changed one warm summer night by the American River, when a profound encounter with God redirected his life’s path toward ministry. Soon after, a new Christian friend handed him Hal Lindsey’s book, The Late Great Planet Earth, igniting his passion for exploring end-times theology, biblical prophecy, the book of Revelation, and the second coming of Christ. Soon he began his studies for becoming a licensed and ordained minister of the Assemblies of God denomination.

Pastor Perez’s first ministry assignment took he and his wife Lynn to San Diego, California, where they served for four years as the student ministry pastor at Central Assemblies of God. Eventually, they felt called to return home to Sacramento to be closer to family. Their return was prompted by a phone call on a picturesque San Diego evening from Pastor Glen Cole, who invited them to consider becoming the student ministries pastor at Capitol Christian Center in Sacramento. Leaving Central Assembly was a bittersweet decision, as it marked their beginning in ministry and the formation of lasting friendships. Nevertheless, they followed God’s leading and moved back to Sacramento.

After four years at Capitol, Coco and Lynn embarked on a new journey. Following much prayer, Coco felt called to step into evangelism, traveling to various churches to teach, preach, and share his passion for biblical prophecy. Central to his new mission was accepting the directorship with AIM (Ambassadors in Missions), a short-term world missions ministry. This role, combined with his work as an evangelist, led him to travel extensively, visiting over fifteen countries with teams of more than twenty people.

Their fourth significant transition came when Pastor Coco and Lynn accepted the invitation to serve as lead pastors at Horizon Church in West Sacramento, a position they have faithfully held since 1995. In the words of Pastor Perez, “The ministry is about people, equipping them to access all God has promised them, so they can live through the hardships and victories of life to worship and serve our Lord, Jesus Christ.”
